Being blonde and living in the south of Italy, most people gather than I wasn’t born here. Actually, I’m Danish - who are known as great world explorers - though I’ve been living in the south of Italy for 17 years now, drawn by the nice weather, friendly people and drop-dead gorgeous scenery. I have been involved in many facets of travel in the region, from being a tour guide to a wedding planner. But my first love is being a personal concierge for guests and organizing things so they can relax and truly appreciate the history and culture of the Campagna region . As a VillaHost for A Season Away, I strive to make our guests appreciate all of the facets of the area, from the ancient times of Pompeii to the ways of the sea, from the great local cuisine (based mainly on fish) to the island life of Capri and Ischia. When you come visit, I’ll be sure to recommend exploring Capri (I love the island), taking a cooking class with Lucia in Sorrento, visiting some private gardens and farms, going to a pasta-making factory, getting a chance to meet with locals, and understanding the history behind Pompeii and Herculaneum (Roman) and Paestum (Greek) as their influence has been great. But I’m also there to recommend great restaurants, fun discos, the best beaches and where to find good local markets.
