Family Reunion

The grandparents’ best legacy is their children and grandchildren, and what great joy in seeing everyone all together in France or Italy. For a week or so, everyone stops obsessing with emails and Blackberries and iPhones, and uses the time to reconnect with their cousins, talk with their parents, and enjoy the simple life afforded by being in a villa together.

And if all that togetherness is making you feel uncomfortable: learn to cook, ride a bike, head to local markets, read a book to your son (or grandson), maybe even flop on your back with the kids and count a million stars in the Tuscan sky, and more.

One of our guests put it this way:

It was a villa trip to Italy we all wanted to share with our parents. They had raised us, even put away money for our children’s’ college. Now it was time to get together in Chianti in a big house with a pool and enjoy time together, perhaps for the last time as the family as we knew it. It was fun seeing Mom get tipsy on red wine, and Dad, with his goofy hat, telling all those god-awful jokes. Most of all, it was great to savor moments of the sunset of their life.
